LGE was initially formed as Landgraf, Gierke and Associates in 1987 as a manufacturing rep firm covering Northern California contractors, industrials and distribution. Landgraf and Gierke formed the company after working for Westinghouse Electric and Federal Pacific, respectively, then Industrial Electric Manufacturing (I.E.M.).
Landgraf and Gierke went on to represent I.E.M. and added complimentary lines of MGM Transformers, RTE switches, transformers, and termination products (later became Cooper).
In 1989 as Asea merged with Brown Boveri and purchased the Utility products group of Westinghouse, the company was asked by ABB to represent them in California and Nevada. In 1990 Dave Evans joined the company and the name was changed to LGE Electrical Sales, Inc.
Today, covering California, Northern Nevada, Hawaii and Guam, LGE sells electrical distribution and transmission products from Hitachi ABB Power Grids and other complimentary transmission and distribution lines such as Distran Packaged Substations, G&W, Keystone, Borri Power, Vantran, NEPSI, and others.
Dan has been with LGE since 2012. His main focus has been assisting customers with complete high voltage substation equipment procurement. This includes design assistance from a blank slate, assistance with material specification, optimization of scope/value, manufacturer tracking, technical support upon delivery, and project close out. Project experience ranges from wind & solar farms to industrial load substations, 15kv-38kV load up to 69kV-345kV transmission. Close coordination with design engineers, project managers, installers, and service technicians, with both the manufacturers’ and contractors’ firms has resulted in repeated project success.
Dan holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Cal Poly SLO and an eMBA from Sacramento State University. He is a licensed California Professional Electrical Engineer (License #E17390 since 2004). Previous experience includes 10 years in the commercial construction industry in engineering, project management, estimating, and sales.
Ray founded LGE with Jerry Gierke in 1987. From his background as a Westinghouse sales engineer starting in 1973, he has focused on bringing value to his customers. LGE was purposed to have as complete a product portfolio offering as possible.
Over the last 15 years, Ray has sought manufacturers of medium and high voltage distribution and transmission products to represent what would complement LGE’s package offering for major substation and switchgear projects. LGE values the long term relationships they have with the manufacturers they represent.
As the renewable and IPP market has grown, LGE has been active in over 400 substation projects from 46kv thru 500kv.
Ray holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue and has completed numerous courses in switchgear and transformer design and protection and control.
Dave has over 35 years of experience as an outside sales engineer in the electrical switchgear industry including 20 years with LGE Electrical Sales calling on the commercial, construction, military, and industrial markets in Southern California. He aims help our customers meet their objectives by applying three plus decades of hands on experience in the industry.
Dave attended California State University Long Beach and he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, Beach Volleyball, golf, fishing, skeet shooting and the outdoors.
